How We Photography Kids
Here we speak to one of our photographers, Bryan, to find out some tips and tricks for your photography session.
What would you say is your style of photography?
My images are timeless, fun, and carefree. I am all about crafting memories for you to cherish many years down the road.
What colours do you recommend that we wear for the shoot?
I would recommend pastel or light colours. Do avoid overly saturated or bold colours, nothing too jarring like bright red or luminous green as they would be quite distracting in the photos. One tip I would have is to look for a muted version of your favourite colour. For example, if you like blue, perhaps you can opt for a light denim or sky blue instead. There is also no need for the entire family to be in exact matching outfits. You can choose complementary colours so that everyone looks cohesive.
Kids are not exactly the easiest to photograph, what tips do you have for trying to get kids to look into the camera?
I would encourage parents to bring their kids favourite toys and I would use the toys to interact with them behind the camera. For example, if their favourite toy is Buzz Lightyear, I would say some of his famous catchphrases and they would usually be entertained by that.
How do you deal with kids when they start crying or throwing tantrums?
I usually try to distract the kids before they start crying or throwing tantrums, this is where experience plays a part. I remember this incident where we had the photography session near a water feature in their condominium. Her son had fallen into the water feature and was about to cry, I started splashing a little water on him to play with him, which had him completely distracted and he started playing with me too. It created some really cute photos!
Any tips for parents during the shoot?
Trust the photographer, do not get too engrossed with trying to get your kids to cooperate for the shoot. Do not get too stressed out during the shoot, remember to relax and enjoy the moments! After all, we are all about creating awesome memories for you.
Any favourite moments?
My favourite moments would definitely be moments after the shoot, where kids cannot bear to leave the studio because they had so much fun with me, where kids run up to hug me before they leave.
We hope this gives you a little insight that helps you in planning for your photography session. Do feel free to reach out if you would like to book a session with us!
